Exciting update on Kyogo Furuhashi’s Celtic debut
It has been a while since Celtic agreed a deal with Vissel Kobe to sign Kyogo Furuhashi. But the current circumstances mean that the Japanese star is yet to feature for the club.
Of course, the Hoops could do with another striker right now. Odsonne Edouard has been linked with a move away from the club for quite a while and does not appear to be in form at the moment. On the other hand, Albian Ajeti has not been able to make his mark either despite making a promising start to pre-season. Leigh Griffiths is struggling with fitness issues.
Thus, Furuhashi’s arrival would be a huge boost for the club. He is a very exciting forward and could be a great fit in Ange Postecoglou’s style of football. Of course, it will also be interesting to see how he settles into Scottish football and hopefully, he will hit the ground running.
Ange Postecoglou has given an update on when we could see the Japanese star feature for the Hoops. While speaking on Celtic’s official YouTube channel and as reported by 67 Hail Hail, the manager said:
"“The good thing about Kyogo is he’s mid-season so apart from the days in quarantine and travel he should be in good condition. I’m just waiting to hear on updates about his eligibility. But if not tomorrow he’ll definitely be available for Thursday [vs Jablonec].”"
Furuhashi could be set to make his Celtic debut in the near future
While it might be pre-season for the Hoops, the J1 League is in the middle of its season right now. And Furuhashi was having a spectacular campaign there before moving to Parkhead.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Furuhashi scored 16 goals and provided 2 assists in 22 appearances in all competitions for Vissel Kobe this season.
The 26-year-old was also the top scorer in the J1 League when he left. Thus, it is safe to say that the Celtic fans should be very excited about the Japanese star. He has also been given the legendary number 8 jersey.
He has incredible pace, an eye for a goal and is also one of those players who are capable of creating something out of nothing by themselves at times. And the Hoops could certainly do with a player like that at the moment.
While they have managed to create chances, finishing them off has been a worry for them in recent times. That was the case last season also and we saw that against FC Midtjylland in the second UEFA Champions League qualifying round as well. Hopefully someone like Furuhashi can come into the side and put those chances into the back of the net.
