Celtic need to make signings in a number of positions all over the pitch this summer. While the defence feels like the priority right now, striker could be another area where they need to make an addition as well.

With Odsonne Edouard looking likely to depart at some point in the near future, it would not come as a surprise if the club ended up making a move for a striker. The club have already signed Kyogo Furuhashi and some recent rumours had suggested that they had put in an offer for Gianluca Lapadula as well.

The striker has played for a number of clubs in Italy through the course of his career including AC Milan. And he was a standout in this year’s Copa America, while representing the Peru national team in the tournament. At this point of time, he plays for Benevento Calcio and their sporting director Pasquale Foggia has revealed that the club are yet to receive a concrete offer for Lapadula.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, while speaking about Lapadula’s future, Foggia said:

"“The future of Gianluca Lapadula depends on the offers that will arrive in the transfer market.“And, contrary to reports, we have yet to receive one single concrete offer for the player.”"

Could he be the right signing for Celtic this summer?

Lapadula has had some incredible seasons while playing for teams in the lower divisions of Italian football but he has not been as prolific while playing in Serie A, a competition he has represented four different clubs in till now.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 125 appearances in Serie A till now, scoring 34 goals and providing 8 assists.

At 31 years of age, he also won’t be a long-term solution for the club up top. Now, it remains to be seen if the Hoops do decide to make a move for him in the near future. Of course, in case of any move, a lot would depend on how he would fit into Ange Postecoglou’s style of football as well.
