There have been a lot of positive signs for Celtic during the time of Ange Postecoglou as the manager of the club. But it is clear that the club need to bring in players in a number of positions if they are to challenge for the Premiership title this season, after finishing 25 points behind the Rangers last time around.

The Hoops have looked good going forward and with Postecoglou being at the club for only about a month or so till now, the fans should be very excited about what is to come in the future.

Defence remains a worry though. The club have signed Carl Starfelt and Osaze Urhoghide this summer already but more signings are needed at the back. The Hoops might need to bring in players at left-back, right-back, goalkeeper and maybe even another centre-back.

Postecoglou has shed some light on how the club are approaching this transfer window. While speaking with Sky Sports and as reported by 67 Hail Hail, the manager said:

"“If I was to say we were after a certain player and we didn’t get him, I’d hate to think that people thought we went to plan B. That’s not the case. We’ve got three plan As running concurrently in the positions we need players. For me, it’s about getting one of those identified and into the squad and training as quickly as possible.”"

He has also revealed that the club are looking for players in a number of positions:

"“You’re right, right-back is an area we don’t have a lot of depth at the moment, so that’s a key area. But there are other positions we’re still looking for players.”"

Celtic need to make signings in a number of positions

It is clear that the club need to make signings in a number of positions but some patience is needed. It is not easy to get things done quickly, especially under the current circumstances.

But even then, the Hoops have already completed some important deals. Liel Abada is already looking like somebody who can be an important part of this side for years to come. On the other hand, Kyogo Furuhashi and Carl Starfelt are yet to come into the first-team picture but there are high expectations of them as well.

Now, it will probably be about solidifying things at the back more than anything else and bringing in a striker in case Odsonne Edouard ends up leaving this summer. And while there are clearly areas to work on, overall things are looking positive for the future.
