A summer squad rebuild has been expected at Celtic for a while now. And it looks like things are finally starting to gain pace.
Players were always expected to both arrive at and leave Parkhead this summer. And Kristoffer Ajer is someone heading for the exit door. The club announced on their official website that the Norwegian has signed for Brentford.
He has been a regular in this team for quite a while now and was one of the most consistent performers last season. Thus, the Hoops will need to find a replacement for him. And it looks like they already have.
Celtic announced on their official website that they have reached an agreement with Rubin Kazan for the transfer of Carl Starfelt. He will sign a four-year deal with the Hoops.

It looks like the Celtic team is finally taking shape
It is safe to say that the team this season will be very different from the one in the last campaign. And after finishing 25 points behind the Rangers in the Premiership and without a trophy, some changes were needed this time around.
Ajer leaving surely will be a big miss. The Norwegian international was one of the club’s best players last season and hopefully, Starfelt can come in and quickly find his feet in Scottish football.
There is certainly a lack of options at the back at this point of time. Christopher Jullien is yet to fully recover from his injury, meaning Stephen Welsh and Osaze Urhoghide are the other two recognised centre-backs in the squad. Dane Murray has done well when given the chance but it will be important to slowly integrate the 18-year-old into the side.
Starfelt is coming off of a very impressive campaign with Rubin Kazan, who had one of the best defences in the Russian Premier League last season. He is a ball-playing centre-back, who could be a good fit in Postecoglou’s style of football.
