Ange Postecoglou has a massive task on his hands. Celtic are coming off of a disappointing season which saw them finish 25 points behind the Rangers in the Premiership and without a trophy for the first time in years. On top of that, they need a squad rebuild this summer.

Thus, it won’t be easy to quickly turn things around and get them back to winning ways. But that will be what is expected of the manager this season. The Hoops are set to face FC Midtjylland in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round on Tuesday.

The club have not made it to the group stage of the Champions League in the previous three seasons and will be hoping to bring an end to that streak as quickly as they can. They have made two very exciting signings in recent days, Liel Abada and Kyogo Furuhashi. But neither of them is part of the squad for the first leg of the FC Midtjylland tie.

Abada featured in the pre-season game against Preston North End but has not been included while Furuhashi is yet to link up with the squad. And Postecoglou believes that the club need to move a bit quicker when it comes to making signings. As reported by BBC, he said:

"“We probably hesitated a couple of times and could have moved faster on some things.“That hasn’t helped us. In normal circumstances these processes are fairly straightforward. Get a player, sign him, take him on a plane, take a photo and away he goes.“That process is now taking two to three weeks. That’s where we’ve got to move a little bit more precisely, understand there’s going to be lag time and move a bit quicker.”"

Celtic need to make several more signings this summer

Considering the current circumstances, it will take more time than usual for a move to be completed even when an agreement has been reached between the two clubs.

There are several more signings that the Hoops might need to make over the course of this summer transfer window as they need reinforcements in quite a few positions.

Goalkeeper, left-back, centre-back, right-back, central midfield, wings and striker are all positions where the club might still need to strengthen further.

On the positive side though, it has certainly appeared that their transfer plans are picking up pace now and hopefully the signings will be made as soon as possible in order to give Postecoglou and his side the best chance of success moving forward.
