The Celtic goalkeeper position has been the subject of much debate since Fraser Forster left. And now it looks like they could try to bring the Englishman back again. Vasilis Barkas though has been impressing in pre-season and might have a case to be the man between the posts himself.
Last season, we saw that all three of the club’s goalkeepers got runs in the first-team but none of them managed to quite convince that they were the long-term answer in the position.
Barkas arrived from AEK Athens with high expectations but was unable to find his feet in Scottish football. But that move happened after a long drawn transfer saga surrounding Forster, who ended up staying at Southampton.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Forster is wanted on loan again by Celtic and they have opened talks with Southampton about a move.

Should Celtic make a move for Forster this summer?
There is no doubt that Forster is a proven goalkeeper for the Hoops and in Scottish football already. He is a brilliant shot stopper but may be limited in a more sweeper style ball playing role. Now, it will depend on what kind of a goalkeeper Ange Postecoglou wants in his team.
But Barkas’ recent form should give them something to think about before making a move. He has been impressive in pre-season games and started against Preston North End yesterday.
The Greek international looked confident again and made some great saves in the first half. He is showing great improvement in multiple areas of his game. What will the recent rumours surrounding Forster mean for his confidence though?
The Hoops should probably consider giving Barkas a bit of a run in the first-team in competitive matches and see how he performs before considering trying to bring back Forster to Parkhead this summer.
