Not many rumours had linked Celtic with a move for Kyogo Furuhashi before the club announced the move yesterday. And it is a transfer that has certainly managed to catch the attention of the fans.
Furuhashi certainly looks like an exciting talent and it will be interesting to see how he makes the adjustment to the Scottish game.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 16 goals and provided 2 assists in 22 appearances this season for Vissel Kobe. He also has 3 goals in 6 appearances for the Japan national team to his name till now.
Ange Postecoglou, who was the Yokohama F. Marinos manager before moving to Parkhead, must be well aware of his qualities. As reported by the club’s official website, speaking about Furuhashi’s move, he said:
"“We are delighted to bring Kyogo Furuhashi to Celtic. He is a player of real quality and clearly someone I know well.“I think he will add something special to our squad and I am sure the way he plays will excite our supporters. We look forward to welcoming him to Celtic.”"

Furuhashi could prove to be a brilliant signing for Celtic
Furuhashi has not played club football in Europe before. Thus, it will be very important how he makes that adjustment. But if he can find his feet in Scottish football, the 26-year-old has the potential to be a brilliant signing for the Hoops.
He is capable of playing in multiple positions but operates best either as a left winger or as a centre forward, and both are positions that the club needs reinforcements in at this point of time.
The Japan international has scored 10 league goals or more in each of the past three J1 League seasons and he clearly knows the way to the back of the net.
Furuhashi’s brilliant pace, ability on the ball, dribbling and his eye for an goal make him a very exciting signing for the club. Now, one can only wait to see him play in the Hoops. As we have already seen over this pre-season, Postecoglou could certainly do with a player like him, who has the ability to make something happen out of nothing at times through individual brilliance.
