Celtic’s transfer plans are starting to pick up pace now. The club had already brought in Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide from Sheffield Wednesday. And after a quiet period, they have announced the signings of Liel Abada, Kyogo Furuhashi and Bosun Lawal.

The signing of Furuhashi appeared to come out of the blue. There were not many rumours linking him with a move to Parkhead and not many would have been expecting the announcement earlier today.

But it is safe to say that he looks like an exciting player. He appears to have good pace, dribbling ability, quality on the ball and knows his way to the back of the net, looking very calm even when put under pressure by opposition defenders. Thus, if he can make the adjustment to Scottish football, he could prove to be a terrific signing.

As reported by Daily Sports (via 67 Hail Hail), Celtic have agreed a deal with the transfer fee approaching £5 million for Furuhashi.

Furuhashi appears to be an exciting signing for Celtic

From his time as a manager in Japan with Yokohama F. Marinos, Ange Postecoglou should be well aware of Furuhashi’s abilities.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Furuhashi has scored 15 goals and provided 2 assists in 21 appearances for Vissel Kobe this season. At this point of time, he is also at the top of the J1 League scoring charts with 14 goals. The 26-year-old has also made 6 appearances for the Japanese national team till now, with 3 goals to his name.

Thus, there is no doubt that he is an excellent talent and a player who can be great for the club if he can make the adjust to Scottish football. This is also where it looks like Postecoglou’s knowledge of the game in Japan can shine. Now, let’s just hope that he can find his feet at Parkhead.
