It is safe to say that Celtic have made a good start in pre-season under Ange Postecoglou as the manager of the club. They have won their first two games, against Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic respectively.

Now, while it is just pre-season, there are already signs to be encouraged by and players to be excited about. Albian Ajeti appears to have rediscovered his confidence while a number of youngsters are impressing to the point that they could be a part of the senior squad in the upcoming campaign.

Amidst all this, two players who have been missing from action are Kristoffer Ajer and Tom Rogic. Both of them have been linked with Parkhead exits in recent times but things have certainly become interesting for the Australian midfielder ever since the appointment of Postecoglou.

Rogic has been part of the Welsh camp and is training with the squad but he has missed the first two pre-season friendlies though and Postecoglou has confirmed that the absence has been due to him not being 100% fit. As reported The Scottish Mail on Sunday [11/07 print edition, page 141] (via 67 Hail Hail), the new manager said:

"“Kris [Ajer] wasn’t 100% fit, same with Tommy Rogic. We will hopefully get some game time into them on Wednesday.”"

Could Rogic be a part of the Celtic first-team picture next season?

There is no question about Rogic’s talent or quality. But it has been mostly his fitness issues which have kept him out of the first-team picture at Parkhead for quite a few years now.

Not too long ago, it was looking like he was destined for a transfer exit. But now, it does not look like that will be the case this summer although we all know how quickly things can change in football.

If Rogic can keep fit consistently, then there is no reason that he could not play a role in Postecoglou’s team next season. In fact, at the top of his game, the Australian might be one of the best players in the entire Premiership.
