There are expected to be a number of changes in the Celtic squad over the course of the summer transfer window. A number of players look set to leave the club and must be replaced by new faces.

One of the positions that the Hoops should look to strengthen in as early as possible is at centre-back. In fact, they have already brought in Osaze Urhoghide from Sheffield Wednesday but further signings are expected to be made in the heart of defence.

A number of centre-backs have been linked with the club as a result. Names like Mario Vuskovic, Carl Starfelt and several others have cropped up in recent days. But one player that the Hoops have had on their radar for quite some time is Ben Davies.

Davies moved to Liverpool in this year’s winter transfer window but is yet to make a single appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Naturally, rumours have suggested that he could be on his way out of Anfield this summer. But as reported by the Mirror, Davies will snub interest from Celtic and Bournemouth because he is determined to make it at Liverpool.

A move for Davies does not appear to be on the cards for Celtic

It looks like Davies is committed to Liverpool and as result, a Parkhead switch might not be on the cards.

The Hoops were very close to agreeing a pre-contract agreement with the 25-year-old in January, when he was still at Preston North End but Klopp’s side made a move near the end of the transfer window to take him to Anfield. And while things might not have gone Davies’ way till now, it seems he is determined to make the move work.

The Glasgow giants, on the other hand, must turn their attention towards other centre-back options. And to be honest, the club have certainly been linked with some exciting names over the past few days.
