The Ange Postecoglou era at Celtic got off to a good start as the club earned a 3-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday in their first pre-season tie. While they might have got off to a slow start, by the end of the game there were a lot of positives to look at and quite a few players to be excited about.

But one would think that a number of players are set to arrive at Parkhead over the coming weeks. Quite a few players are expected to depart this summer and it remains to be seen who will be brought in as their replacements.

Postecoglou appears to believe that there will be significant change. Not just because players will come in but also because the style of football will be a bit different to what the club were playing last season. We got to see flashes of that style today but it is far from a finished article at this point of time.

While speaking with Sky Sports and as reported by 67 Hail Hail, the new manager said:

"“I think there’ll be a significant change, only because there’s been a pretty big turnover in players from last year. A lot have left and we need to bring in some. Whenever that happens, I think it’s significant change.“And also they’ll play a little differently to how they did in the past. Whether it’s a rebuild or just a shift in direction, it will be significant change for sure.”"

Celtic could have to make quite a few signings this summer

After the season that the Hoops are coming off of, significant change might very well be needed. The club finished 25 points behind the Rangers last season and will need to close down that significant gap this season.

It goes without saying that it won’t be easy but with the right signings, it is certainly possible. Now, it remains to be seen what the Hoops do in the summer transfer window. They have certainly been linked with quite a few exciting players over the past weeks.

One thing is for sure though, Postecoglou has brought some excitement to the club along with him following what was a very difficult 2020/21 campaign. He looks like a good manager and with the right players, could certainly lead the club to a successful season.
