Celtic open talks for former West Bromwich Albion player

Celtic might need to bring in a lot of players over the course of the summer transfer window. That won’t be easy though, especially considering the financial situation. Thus, it is very possible that they might need to depend on free agent signings and loan deals in order to fill certain positions in the squad.

The club have been linked with quite a few exciting players in recent weeks. The names of Mario Vuskovic, Carl Starfelt, George Baldock and many others have been brought up, and quite a few of them could prove to be solid signings.

It looks like another player that they have on their radar is Kyle Edwards. The 23-year-old is a free agent now with his contract with West Bromwich Albion coming to an end this summer.

As reported by Football Insider, Celtic have opened talks to sign Edwards following his West Bromwich Albion exit.

Would Edwards be a good signing for Celtic?

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Edwards made 8 appearances for West Bromwich Albion last season, providing a couple of assists in the process of doing so.

Edwards is capable of playing as a left midfielder or further up the pitch on the left flank and also on the opposite side of the pitch if the situation calls for it, and his versatility could be a big positive if the Hoops do sign him.

While the 23-year-old has great potential, he has not managed to quite find his feet in senior football yet. But that does not mean that he would not be able to do so at Parkhead. Ange Postecoglou’s style of football could certainly be a good fit for a player like Edwards who is a great dribbler of the ball and could prove to be very effective if he can add a bit more end product to his game. Now, it remains to be seen whether the Hoops can get a deal for him over the line.
