As the pre-season games are set to start for Celtic, and they head for their Welsh training camp, it looks like a mixed bunch of players at this stage for Ange Postecoglou to work with.

That is no surprise overall as most fans know that there is a lot to be done this summer if the club are to rebuild the squad. Players like Mohamed Elyounoussi, Diego Laxalt, Shane Duffy and Jonjoe Kenny have left the club with their loan spells coming to an end.

Others like Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer and Ryan Christie have a year or less left on their current deals and are expected to depart this summer. Otherwise, they will become free agents in the not too distant future. Boli Bolingoli was also among those seen boarding the plane to the camp as reported by the Daily Record.

There has been talk about the possibility of Postecoglou giving everyone a fresh chance. And that looks to be the case, as the new manager will have the chance to assess his entire squad on this pre-season trip.

Postecoglou has certainly brought excitement with him to Celtic

Postecoglou already appears to be making his mark at the club and fans are quickly growing warmer to the new manager. A video on the club’s YouTube channel showing him ‘Mic’d Up’ in training has gotten a great response.

But he definitely has his work cut out for him, to get the team ready to perform in the fast approaching UEFA Champions League qualifiers.

With a number of pre-season matches coming up, this will be a good chance for Postecoglou to see which players fit into his system and who don’t. The club are also expected to make a number of signings over the course of the next few months.

While these matches will be a good test, the focus and spotlight is on the UEFA Champions League qualifiers on 20 July and 28 July against FC Midtjylland.
