Celtic will need to strengthen in a number of positions over the course of the summer transfer window if they are to challenge for the Premiership title next season. And a winger or two must be near the top of the club’s wish list.
The Hoops appear to be light of options on the flanks at this point of time. With Mohamed Elyounoussi’s loan spell at the club coming to an end, James Forrest, Karamoko Dembele and Mikey Johnston are the only recognised wingers at the club.
Out of those three, Johnston and Forrest spent the majority of the previous campaign out of action due to their respective injuries. On the other hand, Dembele does not have a lot of experience when it comes to senior football. Thus, it would not be surprising if they try to sign a new winger this summer.
In that case, the Hoops should definitely enter the transfer race for AC Milan’s Jens Petter Hauge. The fans will know the Norwegian winger very well as he scored a sensational goal against Celtic in the Europa League last season. But after an overall difficult first season in Italy, it looks like there might be a possibility of him leaving. As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Eintracht Frankfurt have made a transfer bid for the 21-year-old:

Celtic must try to sign Hauge
It looks like Eintracht Frankfurt have made a transfer bid of around €7 million or €8 million for Hauge. If the Norwegian is available for anywhere near that transfer fee, the Hoops should definitely consider making a move.
While Hauge might have had a difficult start to life in Italy, he did enjoy a splendid campaign in the previous season with FK Bodo/Glimt. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists in 18 league appearances for the Norwegian side. He also scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists in 3 Europa League qualifying matches. In fact, he was good for AC Milan in the Europa League as well, scoring 3 goals and providing 1 assist in 5 appearances.
Thus, there is no doubt that Hauge is incredibly talented and has a lot of potential. And at 21 years of age, he would only be expected to get better from here on. Thus, if the opportunity was there, Celtic should definitely try to sign him.
