This summer promises to be one of change for Celtic. While no major transfer exits have taken place till now, they are expected to over the course of the next few months.

One of the players who has been heavily linked with a Parkhead departure for quite some time now is Kristoffer Ajer. In fact, even last summer, there was a feeling that he could be on the way out but ended up staying.

The Norwegian international was one of the most consistent performers for the Hoops last season and is one of the most important parts of this team. But with just a year left on his current deal, it does feel like he will seal a transfer exit this summer with a number of clubs believed to be interested in his signature. Recent rumours have suggested that the club has already rejected big transfer bids for Ajer.

As reported by the Daily Record, Norwich City are set to go back in with a £12 million transfer bid for Ajer, with future add-ons built in.

Celtic will need to replace Ajer if he leaves this summer

With only a year left on his current deal and the club facing a squad overhaul, letting Ajer leave might be the right decision for the club. Otherwise, he will become a free agent just a year later.

It goes without saying that the Norwegian defender is one of the best players in the current squad though and the Hoops will need to replace him in the heart of their defence. They have already signed Osaze Urhoghide from Sheffield Wednesday this summer and are being heavily linked with a move for Hajduk Split’s Mario Vuskovic, who is rated at around £5 million and it does look like he might be getting closer to a move to Parkhead.

Now, it remains to be seen where Ajer ends up next season if he does depart Parkhead, with a number of clubs believed to be interested in the 23-year-old’s signature.
