Celtic are expected to make a splash in the transfer window this summer. There are a number of positions in the squad that need strengthening and with a number of players believed to be set to leave, many new faces should arrive in order to replace them.

An area of the pitch that they could do with reinforcements in is central midfield. Scott Brown has left after 14 historic years with the club in order to join Aberdeen in a player-coach role. And while Ismaila Soro is capable of playing that role, there is not much depth beyond him.

One player who has been linked heavily with a switch to Parkhead ever since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as the club’s new manager is Aaron Mooy. The Australian was a regular for teams like Huddersfield Town and Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League not too long ago and currently plays for Shanghai Port FC.

Mark Guidi believes that he could be a really good signing. While speaking on The Go Radio Football Show and as reported by Celts Are Here, the pundit said:

"“So, to be honest, if Celtic can get him, that’s a really good signing.“That’s a proper first team, ready to make an impact, help you win the league kind of signing.”"

Would Mooy be a good signing for Celtic this summer?

Mooy was a regular when Postecoglou was the manager of the Australian national team. Thus, the two will know each other well from that time.

The midfielder also has extensive experience of playing in England and in fact, he began his senior career with St Mirren. Thus, he should not take a long time at all to adjust to the Scottish game.

But a move might depend on the transfer fee that Shanghai Port FC would be looking for in order to let the Australian leave. Mooy is 30 years of age and will be 31 in a few months. Thus, the Hoops would not be expected to shell out a big transfer fee for his signature.
