Following the arrival of Ange Postecoglou in Glasgow, Celtic’s transfer plans appear to have picked up pace. The club have already completed the signing of Osaze Urhoghide from Sheffield Wednesday and it seems like they are working on a number of other moves as well.
It looks like it is youth that the Hoops are trying to bring in first. The club have already been heavily linked with Mario Vuskovic over the past few weeks and that move might very well be getting closer. And now, it seems like they have made a transfer bid for Aaron Hickey as well.
As reported by il Resto del Carlino (via Daily Record), Celtic have made a €4 million transfer bid for Hickey. The left-back currently plays for Serie A side Bologna.
The Hoops have appeared to have had the youngster in their sights for quite a while now. They were linked with him last summer as well but he ended up moving to Bologna back then. Yet, it looks like the Glasgow giants’ interest in signing him has not decreased.

Would Hickey be a good signing for Celtic?
Left-back has been an area of worry for Celtic ever since Kieran Tierney left for Arsenal a couple of summers ago. Since then, Boli Bolingoli, Greg Taylor, Diego Laxalt and Jonny Hayes have all gotten runs in the first-team at left-back but nobody has been able to nail down the spot.
As a result, a move for someone like Hickey does make sense. At 19 years of age, he has all the time in the world to grow as a player and he already possess some impressive experience at first-team level, having played for both Hearts and Bologna.
The youngster had his injury troubles last season but overall, it should be considered as a positive campaign for him as he got experience of playing in the Serie A and appeared to get better as a player as a result of it. Now, it remains to be seen if the Hoops can bring him to Parkhead.
