There are question marks over the Celtic forward line at the moment and it is unclear which players will be available for the upcoming UEFA Champions League qualifying matches. The Hoops are set to take on FC Midtjylland on July 20 and July 28 in the second qualifying round.

While transfer rumours have continued to link some away from Parkhead, the Tokyo Olympics could also rule players out of upcoming club games.

There is mixed news for the Hoops in this regard. Perhaps surprisingly, Odsonne Edouard will not be involved for France in the Olympics as he was not included in their squad. Thus, if he does not seal a move away by that point, then he will be available for selection for the upcoming UEFA Champions League qualifiers.

On the other hand, Vakoun Bayo has been selected for the Ivory Coast Olympics squad as reported by the Daily Record. He will be unavailable for a few weeks and won’t be an option for those early Champions League qualifiers.

What does this mean for Bayo’s future at Celtic?

Bayo was on loan at Toulouse last season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 13 goals for the French side but they did not take up the option to buy included in the loan deal.

He has been linked with other moves away from the club in recent weeks though and it is very possible that he will leave Parkhead once again soon, either on a permanent basis or on loan. That eventual departure could very well be pushed back though as he will be at the Olympics with the Ivory Coast team in the early part of the season.

It must be pointed out that the Hoops could find themselves short of options up top in the near future, with Edouard having only one year left on his current deal and being heavily linked with a move away.
