Journalist provides George Baldock to Celtic transfer update
George Baldock is believed to be the top target for Celtic when it comes to the right-back position. It is certainly an area that the Hoops need to strengthen in over the course of the summer transfer window.
Last season, both Jeremie Frimpong and Hatem Abd Elhamed departed Parkhead, leaving them light on options when it comes to the right-back position. Jonjoe Kenny, on loan from Everton, was the starting right-back in the second half of the campaign.
His loan spell has also come to an end though and now, Anthony Ralston is the only recognised right-back at the club. Baldock could certainly prove to a good signing though if the Hoops were able to sign him.
But it won’t be easy. Journalist Alan Nixon was asked about an update on the situation and he tweeted out:
And it looks like the Hoops are looking into other options as well. The journalist also tweeted out:

Would Baldock be a good signing for Celtic?
Baldock is 28 years of age and it is unlikely that if he did join the Hoops, he would leave the club in the future for a big transfer fee. Thus, if the Hoops sign him, it would most probably be for the here and now.
But on the other hand, he might very well be a good fit in Ange Postecoglou’s style of football having played in Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United team. Baldock also has a lot of experience of playing in the Premier League as well as the Championship, thus he should be able to adjust to the Scottish Premiership quickly.
As a result, he could prove to be a solid signing. But it will all depend on the transfer fee that Sheffield United want for the move.
Recent rumours have suggested that they could be looking for a transfer fee higher than £8 million, which could prove to be very steep for the Hoops, especially when they need to sign players in several other positions as well.
