A new striker is expected to be near the top of Ange Postecoglou’s transfer wish list this summer as Celtic could soon find themselves short of options up top.

Odsonne Edouard has been heavily linked with a summer exit with just a year left on his current deal. Leigh Griffiths’ future appears to be up in the air as well. And Patryk Klimala has already left the club to join New York Red Bulls.

Thus, if Edouard and Griffiths were to leave this summer, Albian Ajeti could possibly be left as the only recognised striker in the squad. And the Swiss international is yet to prove that he can lead the line for the Glasgow giants.

Thus, it would not be surprising if the club decided to sign a striker or two this summer and one player that they have been recently linked with is Rafael Santos Borre. The Colombian most recently played for River Plate but is going to be a free agent soon. And signing a player of his quality on a free transfer would be considered a major coup.

Celtic have been handed Borre transfer blow

As reported by Football Insider, Eintracht Frankfurt have agreed personal terms with Borre as he targets a move this week.

Borre could have certainly been a solid signing for Celtic. He has been in brilliant form for River Plate. But now it looks like he is headed for the Bundesliga while the Hoops’ search for a new striker will continue.

If Edouard does leave, they will certainly need to bring in a striker over the summer. The Frenchman has been the main goalscorer and talisman for the Hoops for quite a few years now and he will definitely need to be replaced, whenever it is that he departs. Finding a replacement for a player of his quality won’t be easy though.
