With Ange Postecoglou now in Glasgow, Celtic’s rebuild plans might pick up pace over the course of the next few weeks.

There are a number of positions in the squad which might need reinforcements over the course of the summer transfer window. One of them could very well be central midfield.

Scott Brown departed the club this summer to join Aberdeen in a player-coach role. At this point of time, the only other player capable of playing in that role appears to be Ismaila Soro. And although he did put in some impressive performances last season, the Hoops do need to bring in another player who is capable of playing there in order to keep the competition for places up while also having cover in case of injuries.

As reported by 90 Min, Postecoglou has asked Celtic to prioritise the summer signing of Aaron Mooy.

Would Mooy be a good signing for Celtic?

Postecoglou would be very well aware of Mooy’s qualities as the midfielder was a regular in the Australian national team during his time as their manager.

Mooy currently plays for Shanghai Port FC but could be on the move in the near future. And it does look like Postecoglou is interested in bringing him to Parkhead.

Mooy could certainly be a solid signing for the Hoops. It was not too long ago that he was playing in the Premier League and was a regular for both Huddersfield Town and Brighton & Hove Albion during his stints there. Thus, it should not be difficult for him to adjust to the Scottish game. In fact, he played for St Mirren during the early stages of his career.

Thus, both Mooy’s experience and his familiarity with Postecoglou’s style of football could make him an attractive option for the Hoops. Now, it remains to be seen whether the club can bring him to Parkhead.
