It goes without saying that Celtic will need to bring in a number of players over the course of the summer transfer window. The club are facing a massive squad rebuild with reinforcements needed in several positions.
One of those positions is right-back. Both Jeremie Frimpong and Hatem Abd Elhamed departed the club last season, and Jonjoe Kenny was the starter there for the second half of the campaign. His loan spell has also come to an end though and as a result, the Hoops find themselves short of options.
As a result, the club are expected to make a move for a new right-back this summer. And as reported by the Daily Record, George Baldock is back on the Hoops’ transfer radar and his name is high on the full-back list.
Baldock is currently at Sheffield United and has been a regular for them for several seasons now. According to stats from Transfermarkt, the Englishman has made 139 appearances for the club, over his four seasons there till now.

Baldock could be a solid fit for Celtic
First of all, Baldock has got a lot of experience playing in both the Premier League and the Championship. But what could make him a good fit for the Hoops is Ange Postecoglou’s style of football.
It is clear that there are certain weaknesses in Baldock’s game. But he was a regular in Chris Wilder’s side for a considerable length of time, a team known for their attacking style of football. As a result, he should not have many issues fitting into Postecoglou’s team or the Scottish game.
Also, it needs to be pointed out that his strengths could be further magnified while playing for a side like Celtic.
The club have been linked with Baldock for quite a while now. It remains to be seen whether they can get a deal over the line this time around.
