When rumours first broke out about Ange Postecoglou being the frontrunner for the Celtic job, it is safe to say that there was a mixed reaction from the fans. But since then and his eventual appointment, it does feel like the supporters have warmed up more to the idea.

The manager has made a name for himself through the course of his career for having his sides play brilliant attacking football. And one would hope that he can bring that style to Parkhead as well.

There is certainly an excitement around the club at the moment as we approach the new season. But it is safe to say that a lot will depend on the kind of signings that the Hoops make over the course of the summer transfer window.

It looks like Postecoglou will have talents from all over the world on his radar, as is expected considering the amount of time he has spent managing in Australia and Japan. As reported by the Glasgow Times, the manager said:

"“Again, working on that side of the world you had to be fairly open minded about where we took players from.“There is some fantastic talent in Asia, there is some fantastic talent in South America. Most definitely that is one of the areas that I want to focus on.“But I think what will make it a good bit easier for the people working in those areas is the fact that we will have an identity and a clear idea of what kind of football we are trying to play and that narrows it down.”"

Celtic need to make a lot of signings over the course of the summer

It does look like the Celtic squad will undergo an overhaul over the course of the next few months. A number of players are expected to depart Parkhead and will have to replaced by new faces.

New signings might be needed at goalkeeper, centre-back, right-back, left-back, central midfield, on the wings and at striker. Thus, it is safe to say that Postecoglou’s team could look very different from the one that the Hoops had last season.

This could make the task even more difficult for the new manager. Not only does he not have much experience of managing in Europe, but he might also have a team in which a number of players are playing their first season of Scottish football. Thus, it won’t be easy at all to produce immediate results, which he will be expected to do.
