Odsonne Edouard and his Parkhead future was one of the biggest talking points surrounding Celtic last summer. It looks like it is shaping up very similarly ahead of the new season as well.

The main question right now is – will Edouard remain with the Hoops for another season as he enters the final year of his contract or will he leave this summer?

An added discussion point has been the Frenchman’s availability for the club in their early UEFA Champions League qualification stage matches. The Hoops are set to take on FC Midtjylland on July 20 and July 28 in the second qualifying round. And it could be a tough day at the office for the Hoops, especially if Edouard was not available.

Back in May, he was almost looking like a certainty to be included in France’s squad for the Tokyo Olympic Games. If selected, Edouard might have been unavailable for the club for four of their key games, depending on how the French side progressed in the tournament. But it looks like things have changed since then.

Edouard might very well be available for Celtic in the Champions League qualifiers

As reported by the Daily Record, Edouard has not been named in France’s Tokyo Olympics squad.

On a positive note for Celtic though, it is entirely possible we will see him turning out for the club in the important UEFA Champions League qualifiers set to be played from next month.

His availability, of course, still depends on whether he is at the club by that point of time. With just a year left on his current deal, it is very possible that the French striker could be headed for the Parkhead exit this summer. Although there have been some suggestions that he could remain at the club for one more season. It remains to be seen what happens regarding that situation.
