Celtic’s squad is expected to undergo a massive overhaul over the course of the next few months. A number of players are expected to leave and be replaced by new faces, as the club aim to put the disappointment of the previous campaign behind them and return to the top of Scottish football as soon as possible.
One man who looked to be headed for the Parkhead exit door is Leigh Griffiths. The striker has not been at the top of his game for years now, except for a short phase in the 2019/20 campaign.
As a result, with his contract set to run out, many believed that Griffiths would leave the club this summer. But now, it appears that there has been a U-turn with regards to his future.
It looks like Ange Postecoglou, the new Celtic manager, wants him to remain at the club. While speaking with BBC and as reported by The Scotsman, he said:
"“He is keen to keep me on. We’re looking for a deal to be done and hopefully it can be done in the next few days.”"

Griffiths looks set to remain at Celtic beyond this summer
Odsonne Edouard is expected to leave this summer with only a year left on his contract. On the other hand, Patryk Klimala has already joined the New York Red Bulls.
Thus, it does make a lot of sense on the part of Postecoglou, to try and keep hold of the 30-year-old. Otherwise, there might be a lack of options up front in the near future, with Albian Ajeti remaining as the only recognised striker at the club if both Edouard and Griffiths were to leave in the summer transfer window. And the Swiss international did not show enough last season to convince that he can be the man leading the line for the Hoops for the foreseeable future.
On a number of occasions in the past, it has looked like Griffiths was set to leave Celtic only for him to stay. And it looks like the Scottish striker is set to get one more chance at Parkhead, under Postecoglou.
