Celtic want £15 million-rated striker on a free transfer this summer

With Ange Postecoglou now in Glasgow, the recruitment of new players should be well underway. There are gaps in multiple areas of the squad and a new striker might very well be near the top of Celtic’s summer wish list.

Whether Odsonne Edouard moves away or stays for another season, the Hoops need more options upfront. Leigh Griffiths might end up staying as well, but even then, the club needs to add more goalscorers to this team.

An exciting striker from South America with a good goal scoring record would be a very attractive option but such players are seldom available. But this time around, it looks like the Hoops have one on their radar.

As reported by Football Insider, Celtic have joined the transfer race to sign Santos Borre, currently playing for River Plate in Argentina. The Rangers are also believed to be interested in the striker.

Would Borre be a good signing for Celtic?

Borre is a 25-year-old striker who has been in brilliant form for River Plate in recent times. He has also represented the Colombian national team on four occasions.

The striker is believed to be rated at around £15 million. But his contract is set to run out at the end of this month, meaning he will be a free agent this summer. As a result, Borre might be a very attractive option for the Hoops.

At this point of time, someone like Borre could be the perfect signing for the club. He already has experience in Europe and was even signed to Atletico Madrid at one point of time, and also spent time on loan with Villarreal.

He has always been a very highly-rated striker but there were certain areas in his game that he needed to improve. And it looks like he has made those improvements in the last couple of years, and is now showing great consistency. As a result, if the opportunity was there, the Hoops should definitely consider making a move for Borre.
