Ever since Brendan Rodgers joined Leicester City, Celtic players have been continuously linked with moves to the King Power Stadium. It was just this summer that it was looking like Odsonne Edouard was set to join The Foxes but since then, talks appear to have broken down regarding the move.

In the past, Kristoffer Ajer and Callum McGregor have also been linked with the club. And now, it looks like Ryan Christie is also someone that Rodgers might want to reunite with in the Premier League. As reported by the Daily Mail, Leicester City have joined Nice in the transfer race for Christie.

The midfielder’s current deal with the Hoops is set to expire in January of next year, meaning that he could very easily be available for a bargain transfer fee this summer. AS Monaco are also believed to be interested in the Scotland international.

And some rumours have even suggested that Christie could end up leaving the club for a transfer fee of around £1 million this summer because of the fact that he only has months left on his current contract.

Celtic will need to replace Christie

While Christie might not have had a great 2020/21 campaign, there is no denying the fact that he has been a big part of the first-team picture at Celtic for quite a while now. As a result, when or if he leaves, they will need to find a replacement for him.

Ange Postecoglou is known for playing a 4-2-3-1 system. And thus, someone like Christie could have been very effective as the playmaker sitting just behind the striker. Now, the task will be to find someone with similar attributes to replace him in the squad and possibly compete with David Turnbull for the attacking midfield position.

Of course, something is better than nothing, especially when the Hoops are looking at a potential summer overhaul of the squad. And even a transfer fee of around £1 million could go a long way in that regard.
