It goes without saying that Celtic will have to make quite a few signings over the course of the summer transfer window if they are to challenge the Rangers for the Premiership title next season.
One area that they might need immediate reinforcements in is right-back. Jeremie Frimpong and Hatem Abd Elhamed both left the club last season. And as a result, it was Jonjoe Kenny, on loan from Everton, who filled in at the position in the second half of the campaign.
His loan spell has come to an end though and the Hoops will definitely need to sign a right-back if not two, over the course of the next few months. And it looks like they have already taken their first steps in this regard, by submitting an official offer for Sporting CP’s Valentin Rosier.

Rosier could be a brilliant signing for Celtic
Rosier spent the previous season out on loan with Besiktas and was a standout player for them. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 3 goals and provided 7 assists in 37 appearances for the club.
It is believed that Marseille are also interested in the right-back and he is rated at around €7 million by Sporting CP. Thus, if the Hoops are able to sign him, it would be seen as a massive coup on their part and a statement of intent for the upcoming season.
Rosier is great with the ball at his feet. While he is good at the defensive side of things, it is on the other end of the pitch that he truly shines. He is a great dribbler and is fantastic at creating chances for his teammates. While a pretty well-rounded player, it looks like the 24-year-old’s only significant weakness is that he gives away fouls. But overall, if the club can get a deal for him over the line, they should be delighted. Of course, it won’t be easy but the fact that they have submitted an offer is a step in the right direction for them.
