It is safe to say that Marian Shved failed to settle down at Celtic after joining the club from Karpaty Lviv back in 2019. He got only a few opportunities during his first season with the Hoops and was sent out on loan last season to Belgian side KV Mechelen.

After a rocky start there as well, Shved did manage to find his feet and finished the campaign strong. So much so that KV Mechelen are believed to want him back at the club next season.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Shved scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists in 24 appearances across all competitions last season. He was on the pitch for 1058 minutes though, meaning he averaged a goal contribution every 132 minutes or so. That is quite impressive for a winger.

It goes without saying that the talent has never been in question when it comes to Shved and as a result, a lot of Celtic fans would like to see him get a proper chance at Parkhead. And it looks like that might come next season. As reported by Glasgow Live, Shved is set to be handed a chance by Ange Postecoglou this summer.

Could Shved shine at Celtic under Postecoglou?

Over the years, Postecoglou has become known for his attacking style of football. And very often he uses two wingers in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Of course, this could mean that Shved fits into the manager’s plans.

There is no doubt that Shved’s strengths lie in the final third of the pitch and he knows his way to the back of the net. Also, it does look like the 23-year-old has grown a lot over the course of his time at KV Mechelen and showed a tremendous attitude to become an important part of their team after an underwhelming start there.

As a result, when or if he returns to Parkhead this summer, he will be much better equipped to succeed than he was the last time around.
