Odsonne Edouard is someone who has been involved in a long-running saga regarding his Celtic future. And it looks like all possibilities have opened up once again following latest developments in the summer transfer window.

The belief was that Edouard might have been on his way out of the club last summer itself but in the end he stayed for the season. And still there is one more year left on his contract with the club. That’s what will be the worry for the Hoops, if his contract runs out, he will be open to leave Parkhead as a free agent. And that is something the club won’t want.

It’s no surprise that Edouard has been linked with multiple clubs recently. The most likely destination has appeared to be Leicester City, as Brendan Rodgers will know very well what the Frenchman brings to the table. Not too long ago, it was looking like talks were advancing.

But now, it appears that the move could very well be off the table as the Foxes are close to signing another striker. Fabrizio Romano tweeted out that Leicester City’s transfer bid for Patson Daka has been accepted by RB Salzburg while personal terms have also been agreed and it’s a done deal:

Could Edouard end up staying at Celtic?

As reported by the Daily Mail, Edouard may now look elsewhere but is also considering seeing out his contract and leaving as a free agent next summer.

Now there are two ways to look at this, both positive and negative. On one hand, it is possible that the club were hoping to receive a big transfer fee for Edouard which would go a long way in their summer rebuild of the squad. If he stays, in that respect it would be a massive blow to the Hoops.

But on the other hand, it could have a positive impact on the pitch. There is no doubt that Edouard is a quality player and the club would have a tough time finding a replacement for him if he was to leave. Also, there is a big possibility that he could thrive under a manager like Ange Postecoglou.
