€10 million Celtic-linked forward could be on the move this summer

New Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou could very well have his eyes set on finding another forward. Names like Aaron Boupendza have already been linked with a Parkhead switch. But could the club take another look at a player who they have been linked with in the past?

Alberth Elis was linked with the club last year when he was with Houston Dynamo, and it looks like the Honduras international could be on the move this summer as well after spending a year in Portugal with Boavista, as reported by A Bola.

A number of Premier League sides – Brighton & Hove Albion, Watford, Southampton and West Ham United – are believed to be interested in his signature. Boavista could be looking for a transfer fee of around €10 million.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 8 goals and provided 7 assists in 32 appearances last season. He is also a regular for the Honduras national team.

Could Celtic make a move for Elis?

While playing with Houston Dynamo, primarily as a right winger, Elis proved to be a player who is hard to defend, with good pace. Even if he isn’t scoring, he is a handful for the opposition to keep up with.

At Boavista, he has played as a centre-forward as well, proving his versatility and has looked good there. Thus, a player like him could prove to be a solid addition to the Hoops.

But considering the fact that Boavista could be looking for a transfer fee in the region of €10 million, it is very unlikely that Celtic will make a move for him. While there is no question that he is a good player who can make his mark at Parkhead, at this point of time, the Hoops need to make reinforcements in a number of positions and as a result, that transfer fee could prove to be very steep for the club this summer.
