The Leigh Griffiths story at Celtic has had many highs and lows. He scored 40 goals in the 2015-16 season with the Hoops, but has been less prolific since then.
He has a record of a combined 38 goals for the club over the last four seasons. Many of them were critical and match winners. But he needs to do it on a more consistent basis.
At the start of last season many thought they had seen the last of Griffiths in the Hoops when he was left out of the pre-season trip to France due fitness issues. Somewhat against the odds he found his way back to get some game time.
His future appeared to be up in the air this time around as well. But it looks like the Leigh Griffiths story at Celtic is set to go on.
Could Griffiths continue at Celtic next season?
When asked by Sky Sports, and as reported by The National, about whether he thought he would remain at Parkhead for the upcoming campaign, Griffiths sounded positive that he would and revealed that he has already spoken to Postecoglou:
"“I do. I spoke to the manager on Tuesday morning and things seemed positive.“We’ll have another chat at the beginning of next week when he’s out of isolation and we’ll take it from there.“It was a massive thing for him just to give me a phone. He didn’t have to but he took time out his day and gave me his ideas and his plans moving forward.“So it was a positive chat, we just need to wait until he’s out of isolation, we’ll have a chat face-to-face and we’ll see where we’re at.“Every level I’ve played at, I’ve scored. There’s still a lot to come from me, I’m only 30-years-old and I’ve still got a lot of years left.”"

A decent run of games and of course goals would make all the difference for Griffiths moving forward. One has to remember that he finished the 2019/20 strong and was starting to look like the player who had once scored 40 goals in a season.
Good form for the club could also provide him with a place in the Scotland national team squad. He missed out on a place at EURO 2020, which must have been a huge disappointment. He should now have his eye on a World Cup place in Qatar, but there is plenty of work to be done to make it happen.
At this point of time, it would make sense for Postecoglou to keep Griffiths at the club. With Edouard looking set to leave, the Hoops could be short of options up top. As a result, somebody like him could play an important part next season if he manages to find his scoring boots.
