With Ange Postecoglou’s appointment now announced the speculation for the coaching team at Celtic changes focus. Who will he have working alongside him?

Till now, it is not yet clear who the new manager will have in his coaching and support team. It is always an important decision and one that could have a massive impact on how things turn out for Postecoglou at Parkhead.

All of this leaves a question mark surrounding the future of John Kennedy in particular. He has been at the club a long time now and has worked with Neil Lennon, Ronny Deila and Brendan Rodgers as part of the coaching team.

Kennedy of course stepped up as interim manager when Lennon left in February. But right now he is considering his long-term future at the club as reported by the Daily Mail (via Daily Record). He has a role to play if he wants it though and can continue on as the assistant manager as Postecoglou is no hurry to bring his own staff over to Scotland with him.

What does the future hold for John Kennedy at Celtic?

The feeling is that a lot of fans would want this to be a completely fresh start after a disappointing season. On the other hand, Kennedy also appears to have ambitions of his own to become a manager.

And after a spell as the interim manager at Parkhead, he should not have a lack of opportunities if he did decide to go elsewhere.

But then there is a massive drawback to him leaving as well. Kennedy has been here a long time and will know things like the back of his hand. That knowledge about the workings of the club could go a long way in helping Postecoglou, who does not have a lot of experience managing in Europe and might need some time to settle in at Celtic.
