Following the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as the new Celtic manager, a number of Australian players have been linked with a move to Parkhead. One of them is Mat Ryan.
Ryan has extensive experience of playing in Europe, having represented the likes of Club Brugge, Valencia, Genk, Brighton & Hove Albion and Arsenal through the course of his career. And at 29 years of age, he is in his prime as a footballer and can be a solid addition for the Hoops if they can sign him.
Ryan was a regular for the Australian national team when Postecoglou was the manager. And as a result, his presence at Parkhead could certainly play an important factor with regard to any future move.
At this point of time, Ryan is no longer the first choice between the posts for Brighton & Hove Albion and with just a year left on his current deal, he has been linked with a summer exit. Two of the clubs who appear to be interested in signing the Australian goalkeeper are Celtic and Arsenal.

Celtic have been linked with a move for Ryan
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are hoping to beat Arsenal to the signing of Ryan by offering him a long-term contract and the number one shirt. The Hoops have registered their interest and are putting together a contract package.
It goes without saying that someone like Ryan could be a solid signing for the club. He has proven himself both at club and international level.
In fact, he spent the second half of last season on loan at Arsenal. And although he did not get too many first-team opportunities there, he was impressive whenever he was on the pitch, which might very well be the reason why they want to bring him back next season.
It is unlikely though that he would have a regular first-team role in Mikel Arteta’s side. On the other hand, he would be a regular starter for the Hoops if he was able to adjust to the Scottish game.
