Ange Postecoglou is the new Celtic manager. Now, the work starts on bringing in new players and rebuilding the squad to a point where they can challenge for the Premiership title in the upcoming season.
One of the areas that the club needs immediate reinforcements in is striker. Odsonne Edouard is entering the final year of his contract and is expected to leave Parkhead as a result. Leigh Griffiths’ future is up in the air as well. Patryk Klimala has already left the club for New York Red Bulls. And Albian Ajeti has not managed to convince yet that he can be the man to lead the line for the Hoops.
As a result, a striker or two might be set to arrive at Parkhead in the near future. And one man that they have been linked with over the last few months is Sunderland’s Charlie Wyke.
Wyke has been in brilliant form recently. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 30 goals and provided 5 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions last season.

Celtic are increasingly confident of signing Wyke
As reported by The Northern Echo, Celtic are increasingly confident of signing Wyke. The 28-year-old is set to be a free agent this summer. And it is believed that he has an offer to extend his stay with Sunderland, as well as alternative offers from multiple Championship clubs.
Now, there might be doubts about whether Wyke can make the jump from League One to the Premiership. But as we saw with Ivan Toney last season, it is not out of the question at all.
What might be a worry regarding any possible move for Wyke though, is his record with Sunderland before this incredible 30-goal campaign. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored a combined 11 goals in his previous two seasons with the League One side.
