With the arrival of Ange Postecoglou, Celtic have been linked with a number of players from Japan and Australia. And that is perhaps expected, as the new manager would definitely like to work with some people who are already familiar with his style of football, if possible.

Because of this reason, the fact that the Hoops will need to make a lot of changes to their squad over the course of the summer due to players departing, could act in the manager’s favour and allow him to build the team in his own vision.

The likes of Mathew Ryan and Ado Onaiwu have already been mentioned as potential Celtic signings. But another player who could certainly be an interesting option for them is Yokohama F. Marinos’ Kota Mizunuma.

He was signed by Yokohama F. Marinos at the start of last year and has been very impressive ever since, producing some of the best football of his career while playing in Postecoglou’s system.

Mizunuma could be a good fit for Celtic

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 2 goals and provided 6 assists in 21 appearances this season. He was very impressive last season as well, scoring 3 goals and providing 11 assists in 33 appearances.

At 31 years of age, he would bring a lot of experience with him, something that this side might need moving forward if they are to return to the top of Scottish football in the near future.

Also, there is a lack of options at the club right now when it comes to the wide areas. At this point of time, James Forrest, Mikey Johnston and Karamoko Dembele are the only recognised wingers in the squad. And two of them spent a large portion of the previous season out injured, while the other one has very little experience of senior football till now.

Thus, someone like Mizunuma could be a solid fit. His crossing from the right is brilliant and would provide an option that is different to what the Hoops possess right now. The fact that he has less than a year left on his current contract could also be an important factor in any move.
