Now that a manager is in place with the Ange Postecoglou announcement, Celtic can look at their options in the transfer window. Among those options, there is no shortage of talent overseas.

Celtic have signed two American players in recent years. Those two, Andrew Gutman and Manny Perez, were very surprising considering they were college players before signing for the Hoops. They also brought in Timothy Weah on loan from Paris Saint-Germain for a few months a couple of years back

There is still a lot of American talent though who could possibly make a mark at Parkhead and the Hoops should consider making moves for them as they aim at a summer rebuild.

Among their options are several talented United States internationals who could be on the move in the near future. Here’s taking a look at a few of them:

Ethan Horvath (Goalkeeper)

At 26 years of age, Horvath is a decent option with some good experience. He has made a total of 120 senior appearances, according to stats from Transfermarkt, with seven caps for the United States national team to his name as well.

Beginning his professional career in Norway with Molde, he joined Belgian giants Club Brugge in 2017. But he has not featured much for them over the past couple of seasons.

Following an impressive display as a super-sub goalkeeper for the United States against Mexico, Horvath might be a man in demand soon, with his contract running out this summer.

Zack Steffen (Goalkeeper)

Celtic should consider making a loan move for the Manchester City goalkeeper in the summer, who made 12 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side and kept 6 clean sheets last season according to stats from Transfermarkt.

He likes to play with his feet and has gained some great experience in different environments in the United States, Germany and England. In order to keep his starting place with the United States national team though, he will need to be playing much more often than he has recently. Thus, a move to Parkhead in the summer might make all the sense in the world.

Reggie Cannon (Right-Back)

Ever since the departure of Mikael Lustig, the right-back position has been missing something. Jeremie Frimpong came in and did a fine job until his departure. Kristoffer Ajer has played well there every once in a while, but he looks to be on his way out as well in the near future. And Jonjoe Kenny’s loan spell has also come to an end. Thus, the Hoops might need to make a signing or two in the position over the summer.

At 23 years of age, right-back Reggie Cannon has proven he can play at every level. Starting his career with FC Dallas in 2017, the United States international made the move to Europe last summer to sign for Portuguese side Boavista, where he has been a regular starter.

Cannon is ready for the next step in his career – competing for a league title. And Celtic should definitely think about making a move for him considering their lack of options at right-back at the moment.
