After lots of rumours and speculation, Ange Postecoglou is officially the Celtic manager, bringing an end to a long running search for the club. Now, the focus must turn towards rebuilding the squad and challenging the Rangers for the Premiership title.

The squad is expected to undergo a massive overhaul over the course of the next few months. First-team stars like Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer are being linked with exits with just a year left on their current deals. On the other hand, Scott Brown has departed for Aberdeen to take on a player-coach role while the loan spells of the likes of Shane Duffy, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Jonjoe Kenny and Diego Laxalt have come to an end as well.

Thus, a very different looking Celtic side will take to the pitch next season. And thus, the signings they make in the summer transfer window will have a huge effect on how things turn out for the Hoops in the upcoming campaign.

One man who could turn out to be a good signing for the club might be a player that Postecoglou already knows very well, Ado Onaiwu.

Onaiwu could be a brilliant signing for Celtic

Onaiwu has thrived under Postecoglou this season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 13 goals and provided 2 assists in 23 appearances for Yokohama F. Marinos across all competitions.

Even more importantly, the Hoops might soon be looking to sign a striker or two. Patryk Klimala has already departed to join New York Red Bulls. Edouard is expected to leave as well this summer. While Leigh Griffiths’ future looks uncertain at this point of time. Thus, the club might find themselves lacking options up front very soon.

Thus, signing a player like Onaiwu would make a lot of sense for the club. He is already very familiar with Postecoglou’s style of football and has shown that he can perform in his system.
