The wait is finally over as Celtic’s search for a new manager ended by handing Ange Postecoglou the Parkhead role. The 55-year-old will come with a big reputation from his time in Australia and Japan, both places where he achieved a lot of success.
He does not have a lot of experience in European football though. In fact, his only job in Europe before this was with Greek side Panachaiki. As a result, there are some questions about whether he can make the adjustment.
Most people who have played under Postecoglou though, have had nothing but glowing things to say about him. One such player is Thomas Broich.
The German represented the likes of Borussia Monchengladbach, FC Koln and FC Nurnberg in the Bundesliga before moving to Brisbane Roar. But he has called Postecoglou the best manager that he has ever encountered in football till date. Speaking with The Athletic and as reported by 67 Hail Hail, Broich said:
"“I believe in him. Looking at his successes, it’s based on a deep, deep understanding of the game, and of the psyche of players.“We all know that sometimes it can be difficult in European environments, in terms of pressure and expectation, so there is no guarantee of success. But I can tell you I have worked in German football for a long time as a player, as a coach, and as an expert. To me personally, to this day, he is the best manager I have ever encountered in football.”"

Celtic fans should be excited by the Postecoglou appointment
It goes without saying that Postecoglou is someone that most European fans don’t know about. But that does not mean that he cannot be a brilliant manager. In fact, all signs point towards him being one of the best managers out there who has yet to make his mark in Europe.
Postecoglou has been successful at almost everywhere that he has been at till now. He has won trophies with multiple clubs through the course of his career, found success in both Australia and Japan, and even guided the Australian national team to their only AFC Asian Cup till date.
His credentials and abilities cannot be questioned. And the fact that most people who have worked with him before this have nothing but good things to say about him should excite Celtic fans.
Of course, there is a certain element of risk with the appointment. But considering the fact that this has the potential to be something special, it is certainly a risk worth taking.
