It was just a couple of weeks ago that it was looking like Eddie Howe was destined to be the new Celtic manager. Since then, a lot has changed and at this point of time, Ange Postecoglou appears to be the favourite to land the Parkhead job.

Talks between Howe and the Hoops broke down after months of rumours and speculation linking him with the job. And it does look like the club were very positive about their chances of appointing the former Bournemouth manager.

As reported by The Athletic (via Football FanCast), certain players had even been told that Howe was going to become the new manager.

It is believed that the move fell through as he could not assemble the backroom staff that he wanted. But it does not look like there is any lack of interest in the manager though, as he has been linked with multiple clubs since then.

Postecoglou looks set to become the next Celtic manager

Soon after the Howe talks broke down, Postecoglou emerged as the favourite to be the man in the Parkhead dugout come next season. And it looks like the club are closing in on the manager.

The current Yokohama F. Marinos manager is expected to arrive in Glasgow soon. And when he does, he will have a massive task on his hands as he would be expected to turn things around quickly and get the club competing for titles once again after a very rare trophyless campaign in 2020/21.

Stylistically, Postecoglou is a great fit for Celtic. And he has proven that he is capable of winning trophies as well through the course of his career. Thus, there is the potential that this could be something special if he is able to make the adjustment to Scottish and European football. Of course, the massive squad overhaul that appears to be on the horizon could make his task much harder.
