After a disappointing campaign that saw them lose the Premiership title to the Rangers by an incredible gap of 25 points, Celtic will know that they have their work cut out if they are to return to the top of the Scottish game anytime soon.
The squad looks set to undergo a massive overhaul over the course of the summer. The likes of first-team stars like Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer and Ryan Christie are being linked with Parkhead exits, while Scott Brown has also played his last game for the club and taken a player-coach role with Aberdeen.
The loan spells of Mohamed Elyounoussi, Shane Duffy, Jonjoe Kenny and Diego Laxalt have also come to an end. As a result, a very different looking Celtic side will take to the Parkhead pitch on opening day of the 2021/22 season.
Thus, it is clear that the Hoops need to pull off some big moves in the summer if they are to challenge Steven Gerrard’s side for the Premiership next season. And one man that they should consider making a move for is Sergio Romero.

Celtic should consider Romero move
Manchester United have already confirmed on their official website that Romero will be leaving the club with his contract coming to an end. This could be the perfect opportunity for the Hoops to make a move happen.
Goalkeeper appears to be a position that they will need to strengthen in over the course of the summer, with Vasilis Barkas, Scott Bain and Conor Hazard, all failing to convince that they are the long-term solution between the posts for the club.
Now, at 34 years of age, Romero might not be that either. But as a short-term signing, especially on a free transfer, the club should definitely consider making a move for him.
Romero might have never been the first-choice at Old Trafford but whenever given the chance, he proved that he was a brilliant goalkeeper. The Hoops will know that they are getting a player who will be a regular in the first-team picture if they manage to sign him. There’s not too many players in the squad that you can say the same thing about right now. And maybe it is this kind of stability and experience that the club needs at this point of time as they look to turn things around.
