After months of rumours and speculation, talks broke down between Eddie Howe and Celtic. Following that, Ange Postecoglou quickly emerged as the favourite to get the Parkhead job. And it looks like the Hoops won’t have to wait too long for the appointment to be made this time around.

The general feeling surrounding the situation has been that it is only a matter of time before Postecoglou arrives. And he could have been in charge of current club, Yokohama F. Marinos, for the last time today when they lost on penalties to Honda FC in the Emperor’s Cup.

As reported by Glasgow Live, Postecoglou waved goodbye to the supporters and was warmly applauded by them despite the defeat on the day.

And now, it looks like all roads lead to Glasgow for the former Australian national team manager.

Postecoglou could be the right man for the Celtic job

With very little experience in European football, there is surely a certain element of risk associated with the move. But it has the potential to be something special as well and the risk might certainly be worth taking.

There are two things a manager needs to be considered a success at Parkhead – win trophies consistently and have the side playing attacking football. Till now, Postecoglou has proven that he is very capable of producing both.

He has won league titles with multiple clubs and has won trophies on the international level as well, having guided the Australian national team to their only AFC Asian Cup till date.

And the style of football that Postecoglou’s sides have come to be known for playing could be the perfect fit for Celtic as well. In fact, his Brisbane Roar side was known as ‘Roarcelona’ for the incredible football that they showcased. And if he can get the Hoops playing in that style, we are in for a treat.
