At this point of time, Ange Postecoglou is the heavy favourite to become the next Celtic manager. It is believed that it is only a matter of time before the appointment is made and he is in the Parkhead dugout, with the new season approaching fast.

Appointing a new manager will just be the first step in the massive task facing the club that they must complete over the course of the summer. The next one will be making signings that will give Postecoglou a chance to challenge the Rangers for the Premiership title in the upcoming season.

Thus, the summer transfer window is going to be very important for the Hoops, especially considering the fact that a number of first-team stars like Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer and Ryan Christie could very well be headed for the exit door, while Scott Brown has also played his last match for the club and will take on a player-coach role with Aberdeen.

The latest update regarding Postecoglou is a promising one though. As reported by The Scottish Sun, the incoming manager will have the final say on arrivals and departures this summer:

"But it will be down to Postecoglou to rubber-stamp all incomings and player departures this summer.Hoops chiefs want to give him his place instead of pulling the rug from under his feet ahead of his imminent arrival."

Is Postecoglou the right man for the Celtic job?

Postecoglou has certainly been a topic of heavy discussion amongst the fans over the past week or so. At the end of the day, he has very little experience in Europe. His only job in European football till now was with Greek side Panachaiki. As a result, the appointment will come with its fair share of risk.

But on the other hand, his abilities and credentials are undeniable. He has won league titles with multiple clubs through the course of his career as well as on the international level with the Australian national team, guiding them to their only AFC Asian Cup till date.

The style of football that his sides are known to play is cause for excitement as well. And that makes it even more important that he gets to rebuild the squad in his own vision in order to showcase the attacking football that he has become known for implementing over the years.
