Celtic’s search for a new manager over the course of the last few months has already had its fair share of twists and turns. Not too long ago, Eddie Howe was believed to be destined for the Parkhead job only for talks to break down ultimately.

Since then, Ange Postecoglou has emerged as the heavy favourite to be the man in the Parkhead dugout come next season. And the feeling is that it is only a matter of time before he will arrive at Glasgow.

Time is of the essence though with the new season approaching fast and the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds around the corner. Thus, an appointment must be made as soon as possible.

Recent rumours had suggested that Postecoglou had verbally agreed terms to become the next Celtic manager. But it looks like that might not be the case after all. As reported by the Glasgow Times:

"Meanwhile, despite reports that Postecoglou had verbally agreed terms to become the new Celtic manager today, it is understood that hasn’t happened just yet.Talks between Celtic, Postecoglou and his current club Yokohama F Marinos are however still progressing well, with the club confident of a successful outcome this week."

Postecoglou has not verbally agreed terms to become the next Celtic manager

Of course, this does not mean that the move will not happen. On the contrary, it looks like talks are progressing well and there is a confidence that the move will eventually be completed soon.

But fans cannot be blamed for getting nervous about the entire situation. Especially not after how the long running Howe saga ended.

One can only hope that there is not a repeat of that situation this time around and Postecoglou takes over at the club as soon as possible. The Hoops’ search for a new manager has already dragged on for longer than most would have liked or wanted. And every day is very important right now considering the fact that a new manager will take time to settle in at a new club and implement his style on the team, while a major overhaul of the squad is required as well.
