The Celtic squad is expected to undergo a massive overhaul over the course of the next several months. The club will be looking to sign a number of players in the summer in order to replace the outgoing stars.

The club will first need to bring in a new manager though before they start making signings. At this point of time, it does look like Ange Postecoglou is destined to get the job although it is not clear how long it will take for the appointment to be made.

One player who the club have already agreed to sign though is Liam Shaw. The 20-year-old is at Sheffield Wednesday, who got relegated from the Championship last season, but his contract runs out this summer. The versatile youngster has already agreed a pre-contract with Celtic months back and is headed to Parkhead on a free transfer.

It looks like though that the Hoops might have been a bit lucky to get the deal done. As tweeted out by journalist Alan Biggs, Shaw was open to staying at Sheffield Wednesday but it did not happen:

Shaw is set to join Celtic and could be a solid signing for the club

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Shaw made 22 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring and assisting once each. His versatility could also be an asset to the Hoops, as he is capable of playing both in central midfield and at centre-back, with many drawing comparisons to Kristoffer Ajer in this regard.

Shaw has been very highly-rated during his time at Sheffield Wednesday, which makes this recent update very interesting to say the least.

Shaw is expected to be only one of a number of players set to arrive at Parkhead this summer though. And let’s just hope that they can all settle into Scottish football as quickly as possible. Otherwise, it will be very difficult for the Hoops to mount a title challenge next season.
