Kristoffer Ajer has been one of the most consistent performers for Celtic in recent years. But with just a year left on his current deal, it is expected that he will depart Parkhead over the course of the next few months.
Ajer has been a regular first-team starter for the Hoops for years now and as a result, him leaving would be a blow to the club. In fact, even in a season when those around him were struggling for form, the defender managed to keep his performance levels high, which is commendable.
But now, with the club facing a summer overhaul, the Norwegian might be just one of the number of players who are expected to leave the club in the near future.
Ajer has himself admitted that something is probably going to happen this summer with one year left on his contract. As reported by the Daily Record, he said:
"“With one year left of my contract, that would be the best solution for me and my club. Something is going to happen this summer.“There are of course many rumours. Right now it’s just rumours. I have one year left on my contract with Celtic and I relate to it, but something will probably happen this summer.“I have one year left and will be loyal to the club. For both me and Celtic to get the best possible starting point, it probably makes sense that it happens this year.”"

Celtic are braced for transfer bid from Norwich City
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic are braced for a Norwich City bid for Kristoffer Ajer. The Canaries are set to make their return to the Premier League next season and are looking to strengthen their squad as expected. And it looks like they have identified Ajer as one of the players that they want in their team.
It was not too long ago that Ajer was rated at around £25 million. But with just a year left on his contract, the Hoops are not expected to get anywhere near that figure as a transfer fee if the Norwegian international was to leave this summer. Receiving a transfer fee near £10 million for him will possibly be considered as solid by the club.
It is worth pointing out that Newcastle United are another club who are believed to be interested in Ajer. And more interest in the player is good news for the Hoops when it comes to their chances of receiving a bigger transfer fee.
