Most of the headlines surrounding Celtic at the moment are about Ange Postecoglou. The current Yokohama F. Marinos manager has emerged as the heavy favourite for the Parkhead job almost out of nowhere over the last week after the club’s talks broke down with Eddie Howe.
While most of the club’s fans might not be familiar with his work, it does appear that Postecoglou is very highly-rated back in Australia and rightfully so.
Postecoglou is the only manager till now to guide the Australian national team to AFC Asian Cup glory. He also enjoyed tremendous success managing the Australian national youth sides, winning a combined 7 titles over multiple youth levels. He was brilliant at the club level too, winning multiple titles with both South Melbourne and Brisbane Roar. And he has also lifted the J1 League with Yokohama F. Marinos, their first one since 2004.
And while a lot of the Hoops fans fear about how he will adjust to the European game, former Australia national team captain Mark Milligan, who also played at Hibernian, does not appear to have any doubts about Postecoglou’s abilities though. As reported by The Sydney Morning Herald, he said:
"“I don’t think it’ll take long for the Celtic fans and the people of Scotland to understand what he’ll bring, and what the team will be about.“I haven’t worked under him for a long time but I’ve got a fair idea from working at both club and international level of the way he works. It doesn’t look like that’s wavered over the last few years, the way his Yokohama [F. Marinos] team play. Giving him the quality of player that Celtic provide is only going to enhance his reputation.”"

Postecoglou looks set to become the new Celtic manager in the near future
It sure does look like Postecoglou will be the man in the Parkhead dugout come next season. And it is understandable that certain fans fear how he will adjust to the European and Scottish game. His only job in Europe before this was with Greek side Panachaiki.
But then, just because he has not managed in Europe before does not mean that he cannot be a brilliant manager. He has been a success at most places that he has been till now and certainly has pedigree at both club and international level.
And what’s most exciting about the appointment is the attacking style of football that he will bring with him.
There are two things that a manager needs to do to be considered a success at Celtic – win titles and have the side play attacking football. He has done both till now in his career. Let’s hope that he can continue in the same vein if he does arrive at Parkhead.
