Ange Postecoglou appears to be closing in on becoming the next Celtic manager. It was Eddie Howe that the club had been linked with for months before it emerged that talks had broken down between the Hoops and the former Bournemouth manager.
Many might feel that the name of Postecoglou came out of nowhere but considering how swiftly the club have moved for the manager, it does feel like they have had him in their sights for quite some time in case the move for Howe fell through, which did happen.
While Postecoglou has not been appointed as the club’s manager yet, it looks like things are progressing and it might only be a matter of time before the move happens.
Celtic already have a worry on their hands though regarding the manager even before an appointment is made. Postecoglou does not hold a UEFA Pro License currently and the club have applied for an exemption from UEFA. And as reported by the Daily Star, a UEFA spokesperson said:
"“Mr Postecoglou does not currently hold the UEFA Pro Licence.“A recognition of competence procedure has been initiated. The process could take several weeks.“We don’t have any further information to provide at this stage.”"

Celtic appear to be closing in on the appointment of Postecoglou
The fact that the process could take several weeks will be a worry for the club. We are quickly approaching the new season and any delay would give Postecoglou less time to get familiar with the team.
He also will bring a style of football with him that could take some time to get adjusted to. And then there is the massive overhaul of the squad that is expected to take place over the course of the next few months.
Regarding this matter, it is worth pointing out that Steven Gerrard did not hold a UEFA Pro License when he arrived at the Rangers.
Let’s just hope that things get sorted out as soon as possible and Postecoglou can take over the team at the earliest.
