Celtic have held talks with another manager for vacant role
We are quickly approaching the new season but Celtic are yet to appoint a new manager. For months, it had looked like Eddie Howe was going to be that man but talks broke down just when it was starting to look like the appointment was just a matter of time.
Since then, Ange Postecoglou has emerged as the favourite for the Parkhead job. But the club appear to have alternatives in case the move for him does not work out either.
As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic have held tentative talks with representatives of Rui Faria. It must be pointed out though that they remain confident of getting the deal done for Postecoglou.
Faria served as assistant coach to Jose Mourinho for almost two decades, from FC Porto to Manchester United, before taking on a role as the manager of Al-Duhail. He won the Qatar Emir Cup there but ended up leaving the club after only one season.

Could Faria be a good choice for the Celtic role?
Now, Faria does not have a lot of experience as the manager of a club. But he has been at some of the biggest clubs in the world as the assistant coach to Mourinho through the course of his career.
FC Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Manchester United, he has been everywhere. And that kind of experience of working under the pressure of winning titles every season along with such an extensive time with one of the greatest managers of all-time in the form of Mourinho, is a recipe for success.
Postecoglou remains the club’s first choice at this point of time though and there is no reason to feel that that move will not take place. Faria is a free agent right now and is believed to be keen on the Celtic job though.
