A number of new faces are expected to arrive at Celtic over the course of the next several months as the club aim to get things back on track after a very disappointing season which saw them finish trophyless after a long time.

With a number of first-team players looking set to depart, the club will need to bring in players to replace them. And if the Hoops are to return to challenging for the Premiership title anytime soon, they will need to sign both experience and quality.

Without a manager in place yet though, it seems like they are targeting youth for the moment. The club have already agreed a pre-contract deal with Liam Shaw, which will see him arrive this summer. And now, it looks like he could be joined by another highly-rated talent in the form of Joey Dawson.

As reported by Iron Bru, the Hoops have won the race for the out of contract Scunthorpe United youngster and he has passed a medical at Celtic Park. A number of Championship clubs were believed to be interested in his signature as well. Back in 2019, Arsenal were believed to be keen on signing him as reported by The Sun.

Celtic have won the race for the highly-rated Scunthorpe United youngster

It looks like the Hoops have managed to win the race for the signature of another very promising youngster. This is a promising sign for the club’s future.

But sooner or later, the focus must turn towards signing more experienced players who can come in and immediately make an impact at Parkhead, because that is what they need if they are to compete for titles next season.

Of course, those kinds of decisions are expected to be made once they have appointed their new manager. And at this point of time, Eddie Howe appears to be the favourite for the Parkhead job.
